Guide to Marbella

Introduction

Located on Costa del Sol, between Malaga and the Gibraltar Strait, Marbella has grown to become a popular luxury villa holiday destination, as well as a small, but vibrant and cosmopolitan city. Some things have remained the same, however: a beautiful setting, fabulous weather and endless beaches. There is over 27km of coastline waiting to be discovered, and plenty of beach cocktail stops along the way.

Marbella has something for everyone. Whether you want to be close to the cultural Marbella Old Town, on the picturesque Golden Mile, near to the golf courses in East Marbella, or right in amongst the action in Puerto Banus, we can’t wait to find you a luxury Marbella villa to rent and create the perfect villa holiday for you.

Absorb the Andalucian atmosphere in Marbella Old Town, a stunning area with cobbled streets, quiet squares, elegant galleries, independent fashion boutiques and plenty of restaurants and tapas bars. Meander through the popular “Orange Square”, and you’ll be completely charmed by this historic quarter.

Luxury beach experiences don’t get much better than The Golden Mile. This stretch of coastline is home to beaches that, quite possibly, have the cleanest sands and water you can find. It is also here that you will find the famous Marbella Club Hotel and the Puente Romano, with its renowned tennis centre. Rent a luxury Marbella villa close to here for the perfect beach holiday break.

We can’t speak about Marbella without mentioning its glitz and glam appeal and its impressive nightlife. From bars to nightclubs, some of the best nightlife in Marbella can be found in Puerto Banus. Known as the Costa del Sol’s playground for the rich and famous, Puerto Banus’ luxury marina is ideal for being close to the action. If culinary delights are on your radar, head over to Nueva Andalucia, home to iconic restaurants like “La Sala” or the more modern “Breath”, and even pool clubs like “NAO”.

We don’t do ordinary here. We are a small team of experienced travel specialists, no request is too big or too small, so please do ask for our advice if you are planning to book a luxury villa in Marbella.

Things to do

Best for sundowners

Head for Benabola in Puerto Banus, just off from the Marina – there are plenty of restaurants and terraces around here for you to grab an aperitif from.

If you’re after a lively atmosphere, head to Ocean Club. It has a mouth-watering selection of cocktails and some of the most comfortable – make your way through the menu whilst watching the sun go down.

Best restaurants

Marbella Club’s MC Beach – the menus are photo collages of their old-timers and regulars, and you may be able to spot some in the crowd.

It doesn’t get much more romantic than Casanis in the Old Town of Marbella. Covered in bougainvillaea, this french restaurant is very popular – book early.

Nikki Beach is one of the longest-running and most famous beach clubs on the Costa del Sol. The food takes influences from around the world and serves light, fresh and healthy dishes such as salads, sushi, meats and fish.

Best for exploring

Playa de la Bajadilla backs onto Marbella’s Barrio de Pescadores, which is where you will find some of the best seafood, but bear in mind that these are no-frills eateries.

For those who want an adventure, you can take a  day trip to Tangier to hunt for antiques. The crossing to Morocco only takes an hour!

Spend time walking through Marbella’s enchanting old town. There are so many secret alleys, hidden boutiques and beautiful buildings for you to get lost amongst.

Marbella essential visit

No trip to Marbella is complete without a trip to the iconic Nikki Beach. This beach club oozes luxury, exclusivity, fun and music. The entertainment here is comparable to Cirque du Soleil – it’s all about extravagance.

Best Beaches

Playa Nueva Andalucia is home to some ultra-luxury beach clubs as well as clear water and white sand – what more could you ask for?

Los Monteros is ideal for those travelling with little ones. The water is shallow so great for kids to place in and there is plenty of space for them to run around. And, of course, an ice cream spot or two nearby.

For a more laid back atmosphere, head to Playa Hermosa, where you can have lunch and the beach-side restaurant Karma Beach.

When to Visit

Located in Costa del Sol in southern Spain, Marbella has a Mediterranean climate that brings constant warmth and sunshine to the city. Spring and early summer are ideal for those seeking warm temperatures without being too hot, staying around the low 20s. For warmer seas and hot summer days, visit Marbella between July and September where you will be treated to temperatures around the 30s – you can always cool off in your swimming pool at your luxury Marbella villa rental! If you want to enjoy Marbella away from the crowds, September and October are perfect times to visit.

Getting Here

The best airport to fly into is Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport, located about 35 miles northeast of Marbella in Málaga.

Depending on how much you want to explore the area, you can either travel using taxis to some of the hot spots, or you can hire a car to have a little more flexibility. Please do ask our team if you would like a luxury vehicle delivered to your private Marbella villa on arrival.

To fully appreciate everything Marbella has to offer, we recommend hiring a boat for the day to explore some of the coastline and enjoy a more exclusive experience. Just let us know what you’d like to do and our team will be able to organise something extra special.

Our website offers a small flavour of the many houses we work with and some of our owners prefer to remain anonymous.

So simply get in touch to find the villa that perfectly matches your criteria.
